A full scissor or clipper cut shaped to your head, finished with a hot towel and a straight-razor neckline cleanup. Takes about 30 minutes.
Skin Fade
$45High, mid, or low fade — seamlessly blended from skin to full length. Includes a straight-razor line and a neckline shave.
Beard Trim & Shape
$24Scissor and trimmer shape followed by a hot-towel treatment and straight-razor definition along the jawline and cheek line.
Hot-Towel Straight Shave
$55The full ritual: hot towel, pre-shave oil, two passes with a straight razor, cold towel finish. A proper shave, not a rush job.
Hair & Beard Combo

The shop
A neighbourhood shop, not a chain
The Meridian opened on James North in 2014 in a former apothecary — the pressed-tin ceiling and the original penny-tile floor are still here. What started as a two-chair room has grown to five barbers and a full shave menu, but the rule hasn't changed: do the work right or don't take the booking. We're not in a rush. Walk-ins are welcome when chairs are open, and we hold a block for appointments every day.

Marcus trained at the Aveda Barber Institute before cutting on James North for a decade. His specialty is the mid-skin fade on thick hair.

Joelle handles most of the straight-shave bookings and runs the beard consultations. She has been at The Meridian since 2017.

Common questions
- Do you take walk-ins?
- Yes — we keep chairs open for walk-ins every day we're open. Busiest times are Saturday morning and Friday after 4 PM. If you want to guarantee your slot, booking ahead takes two minutes online or by phone.
- How long does a cut take?
- A precision cut runs about 30 minutes. A skin fade is 40–50 minutes. A full hot-towel shave is 45 minutes. The combo (cut + beard) takes about an hour. We don't rush — build in the full time.
- What should I bring for a beard consultation?
- Just bring a reference photo if you have one in mind. Joelle will take a look at your growth pattern and face shape and give you an honest recommendation before picking up a single tool.
- Do you cut women's hair?
- We do short cuts and tapered styles for anyone. If you're looking for a longer cut, colouring, or a blow-out, we'll point you to a stylist down the street — that's not our lane.
